Do I need a Canvas API key?
No. Sign in through your school’s usual login, including Microsoft or Google. CanvasPlugin stores an encrypted school session, not your password. When your school requires a fresh login or MFA, we’ll ask you to reconnect.
Can my login emails be different?
Yes. Your school, CanvasPlugin and assistant accounts can use different emails. Sign in to the CanvasPlugin account with your school connection, then approve access from your assistant.
How do I connect my assistant?
Choose ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code at the end of setup. Claude opens with the connection details filled in. ChatGPT has a copyable address, and Claude Code has one install command. Your assistant plan must support custom connections. CanvasPlugin is not yet in the public directories.
What can it access?
The tools read courses, assignments, submission status, rubrics, syllabi, modules, pages and announcements. Results include source links and when Canvas was checked. They do not submit work or send messages.
Will my school work?
Access depends on your school’s login and policies. Connect your school before starting your trial so we can check it. Custom Canvas domains may need support to enable them.
What happens if I reach the usage limit?
The hosted plan includes 3,000 tool calls per calendar month, with up to 300 per day, shared across assistants. Calls pause when you reach a limit. There are no automatic overage charges. Your assistant’s own message limits also apply.
How do I cancel?
The no-card trial ends automatically. If you subscribe afterward, cancel renewals in Manage subscription. Disconnecting your school revokes assistant access but does not cancel billing.
